Reception Desk – Design, Management and Fabrication
Design-Built 2017
As part of a team effort, I participated in the design and management of the reception desk, following through with fabrication. Trying to keep the design in line with the museum as is, we pulled materials like the Tyndall stone on the back wall and the wood from nearby railings to tie in to the new pieces.
The desk was not only for reception, but also had two movable desks, one for security and another as a multipurpose roving desk. The interlocking nature of the security desk into the reception desk creates a link between the two desks even when separated. The shape we landed on allows for an accessible height portion on each desk.
